iDRIVE JUNIOR RENTAL SERIES

SERIES STRUCTURE

All drivers will compete on track at the same time in a single class. There is no limit to how many drivers may enter, but in the interest of safety we will not run more than 14 karts on the track at a time. If there are more than 14 entrants on a given night, we will divide the racers into multiple run groups.

Drivers must be 12-15 years old. Age exceptions may be granted for younger drivers on a case-by-case basis. Exceptions will ONLY be granted after an evaluation by Kartplex officials. Drivers/parents may request an evaluation by contacting the Kartplex prior to the start of the iDrive Junior season. Competitors who turn 16 after the first scheduled iDrive Junior race are eligible to compete in the full series. Any drivers who ask for and receive an age exception to run in our 16+ iDrive Series are not eligible to compete in iDrive Junior. A driver may only compete in one of our iDrive Series (Junior or 16+) per year.

 

The iDrive Series was created as the beginning rung of our racing ladder system. iDrive Junior was developed for younger drivers with limited or no karting background to experience an affordable racing series on an even playing field. However, in the spirit and intent of the Drive Jr program, the following list of racers are NOT ELIGIBLE for the Drive Jr Scholarship provided by Margay Racing: 

• Previous Drive Jr Scholarship recipients.

• Racers that have competed in 3 Ignite and/or SuperComp series events in the last 24 months.

Participants who have previously won the iDrive Jr Scholarship are welcome to enter. However, it should be noted that in the event that a previous winner finishes first in the season, they will not receive the scholarship again. Instead, it will be awarded to the runner-up. This rule is in place to ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all participants.

 

RACE FORMAT (PER NIGHT)

One 5-minute qualifying session

Two 10-lap feature races with standing starts.

Drivers will stay in their karts and be gridded for Race 1 immediately after their qualifying session.

There will be a 10-minute break between Race 1 and Race 2.

Drivers will use the same kart for each night’s qualifying session and Race 1, but will be in different karts for Race 2 and may be in different karts on other dates. Karts will be assigned randomly by draw. Karts will be gridded for Race 1 based on qualifying times. The Race 2 grid will be determined by the following process: the top six finishers from Race 1 will have their starting positions decided by the roll of a die, while the rest of the field will start in Race 1 finishing order. Yellow flag laps will count toward race distance.

POINTS STRUCTURE

Each series will consist of 10 races on 5 event dates. A driver will count their best 7 out of 10 results towards the series points championship.

Second place — $100 Kartplex credit + trophy or plaque
